White mustard seeds for green manure 1 kg. White mustard can be grown for seeds used in the food industry, however, it can provide even more benefit to agriculture. White mustard can serve as a support crop for peas or vetches. It is also very valuable for maintaining the phytosanitary condition of the soil (destroys nematodes), and crops grown after it (especially root vegetables) produce larger yields. As a cover crop, white mustard grows a large amount of green mass which, when incorporated into the soil, improves its quality. The green mass yield depends on the soil, moisture, and warmth. The green mass should be ploughed in when it is at its greatest, i.e., during the flowering period of the plants. White mustard prefers good soils. It is suitable as a pre-sowing crop – for potatoes fertilised with manure, clover, cereals, and mixtures of grain and legume crops. Before sowing, till the soil to a depth of 20–25 cm. It can be sown earlier in warmed and dried soil. Fertilise with P 30–60 and K 60–100 kg/ha. Protect against weeds by harrowing between the rows a couple of times until the foliage covers the soil surface. Recommended sowing rate for seed production: 12–17 kg/ha. Recommended sowing rate for green manure: 20–25 kg/ha.
