The waterproofing membrane can be applied to relatively fresh concrete. The surface must be stable and free of loose particles. Clean from dust, oil, grease, paint, adhesive residues, etc. The surface must be dry. Absorbent surfaces must be primed with 4180 primer before application.</p><p>4400 multicoat is generally not mixed. 4400 multicoat is thixotropic and may lose its consistency when stirred. If it is necessary to mix the material, it should be done with slow movements and the material should then be left to rest before application until normal consistency is achieved. By mixing intensively, you risk creating air bubbles in the mixture, which can cause small pinholes in the finished membrane.</p><p>Apply 4400 multicoat evenly onto surfaces with a brush, roller or spatula. Embed the collars and safecoat strips into the fresh 4400 multicoat membrane and, when the first coat has dried (after 1 – 2 h), apply the next coat perpendicular to the first coat. Care must be taken to ensure there is sufficient material — too little material will create pinholes in the membrane. The multi-layer coating is applied to fully fill and cover (safecoat ensures a uniform membrane thickness and faster curing). Recommended for floor surfaces on a wood base. Additional surface finishing can be applied after 6 – 12 h at an average air temperature of 18 °C.</p>
